Prof-N-Stein and the Installation Service

The last three days have been quite interesting.  Lot’s of events and goings-on, people running around and studying to do, but what a great weekend it was!

The kick-off of everything was definitely a little event held every Friday here at Concordia called Prof-N-Stein.  We all chip in a get a keg of some Schlafly’s beer (a local brewery) and a professor stands on a podium at one end of Wartburg Cafeteria and speaks for as long as he wants about whatever he wants.  There are so many great ways for the students to come together in community with the professors, and Prof-N-Stein is definitely one of the most interesting.

After Prof-N-Stein, my neighbors and I hung around for awhile, studying and doing things and running around campus.  Friday evening, however, I had to leave every one and go to work!  I was hired in as an A/V and graphics guy for the Seminary, and over the past week, we have been filming and streaming our chapel services held every day at 11:10am.  Much of what I worked on this week was done in preparation for Saturday’s main event: the installation service of the LCMS’s new president, Matthew Harrison.

The cool thing about this was that I had the opportunity to mix the audio for the house with another 1st year student named Caleb and the live stream on Saturday morning, working with Dale (boss), Shannon (A/V staff) and Andrew (another fellow 1st year student; he was brought in the same time I was).  There were over 1,300 people from all over the country to be a part of the installation service!  I’m proud to day the service was lovely and went off with out a hitch, and it was followed closely by a beer-and-brat reception in the Quad.
